Strong candidates will bring creative, collegial, and collaborative leadership styles. Capacity to work cooperatively with colleagues, participants in our programs, network partners in denominations, and other theological schools in Chicago is important, as is cross-cultural and ecumenical/interfaith competence. Candidates who share McCormick's commitment to theological education that is transformative and impactful will be the best fit.
As a member of the faculty, candidates could anticipate teaching up to two courses per academic year.
This non-tenurable administrative/faculty position comes with faculty rank appropriate to
the candidate’s qualifications. The contract will be for five years and is renewable. Find a full job description click here.
It is a new day at McCormick Seminary. We seek an effective leader who can collaborate with colleagues as we together chart a course into the future. Our new location, shared with the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and with Catholic Theological Union, brings many opportunities for ecumenical engagement and cooperation. Our new president, Dr. Maisha I. Handy, is beginning her tenure with McCormick. Our financial situation is solid. We have recently completed program reviews and are implementing revisions for the DMin, Master of Theological Studies, and Master of Arts in Ministry degrees. We are currently preparing for ATS and HLC accreditation visits in 2026.
Candidates are invited to submit letters of interest that include a thoughtful reflection on the challenges before theological education today and ideas concerning how these might best be met. Are there needed innovations in traditional approaches to formation for religious leadership that are required by our post-COVID era? A curriculum vitae and the names of three references that can speak to the candidate's personal, academic, and administrative, qualifications should accompany the application.
Applicants should e-mail CV and letter of interest to: jleachman@mccormick.edu. Applications will be accepted through October 10, 2024. Top candidates will be interviewed at AAR/SBL if possible and on Zoom if necessary. We hope to fill the position in a timely manner, and the chosen candidate could begin as early as spring of 2025. McCormick is an Affirmative Action Equal Opportunity employer. We encourage applicants of all genders, nationalities, and races to apply.
